Building a Resilient Supply Chain

Clive Daley | the Daley Hub

We keep hearing from various sources that the supply chain issues have almost gone.  We disagree. Supply chain excellence is now compulsory!

Business today is fast paced and consumer driven, where convenience and speed of delivery are a must.  Those with availability reign supreme and those with sluggish or inefficient supply chains disappear into the murky waves in a matter of seconds… and supply issues are often signalled as the straw that broke the back and killed a business.

If you want a seat at the evolving table, you must not only add value but also ensure that your supply chain is seamless and is as fluid as the water is sails on.

Our seminar focuses on sharing simple strategies you can implement to ensure your supply chain continues to sail steady in any waters.

We will touch on the following:

  • View your Supply Chain as a Profit Chain
  • How to balance your sourcing strategy
  • How to reduce working capital
  • Cash is King and how to create more!

We will also touch on “The destabilising factor” will our strategies make things worse before they get better?

Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) Legislation

Ian Worth | Crowe UK

CBAM is an EU measure, intended to capture data and generate carbon levies on certain goods imported to the EU. At first glance, it might seem irrelevant for the UK, however, the EU continues to be the UK’s biggest export market, so EU customers of UK exporters will need carbon data to fulfil their CBAM obligations. At the very least, UK exporters will need to provide carbon data, but if they are exporting on DDP terms, they will also have direct CBAM obligations in the EU. Furthermore, the UK intends to implement its own CBAM measures by 2027, so now is the right time for UK businesses to learn about their CBAM obligations.

Near-Shore and On-Shore Sourcing Strategies for OEMs and Distributors

Mike Tuffy | CEO International | Optimas

Today’s manufacturers are facing both common and uncommon challenges when it comes to sourcing fasteners for their products.

Geopolitical events over the last three years have exposed the vulnerabilities of offshoring exclusively. What’s resulted is a re-thinking of best practices around regionalisation and near-shore and on-shore sourcing, which is fast becoming a consequential movement to better support manufacturing.

UBS Bank examined the re-shoring trend when it polled more than 1,600 executives earlier this year. According to their research note published on March 2, 2023, many senior executives in different sectors intended to move parts of the supply chain closer to home — 78% in Europe, 70% in the U.S. and 54% in China plan to do so.

OEMs and suppliers are responding; however, many are challenged by exactly how they pivot to this new approach and what it takes to get it done.

In this session, Optimas will discuss near-shore and on-shore sourcing strategies for OEMs and distributors and lay out the benefits of this new movement. Mike Tuffy, CEO, International, Optimas Solutions also will cover key elements of near-shoring and on-shoring, including:

  • The advantages to manufacturers/OEMs and suppliers considering re-shoring
  • Best practices to re-shore your fastener supply chain and how combining sourcing and direct manufacturing can complement each other
  • Key benefits to near-shoring and on-shoring, particularly with securing the supply chain, reducing costs, and eliminating disruptions

Mike will wrap up the session discussing why working with re-shoring partners makes sense and the benefits they can offer OEMs. A Q&A session with the audience will conclude the presentation and discussion.
