Torque-Expo

In the same week as ‘Yorkshire Day’, the government has revealed that the county is the top exporter of manufacturing goods, outside London.

For every 10,000 residents in Yorkshire in 2017, there were 22 exporting companies and exports surged 14% between 2016 and 2017. Almost 10% of the region’s workforce is employed in manufacturing.

The county is home to a number of fastener, tool and related businesses, including manufacturer GESIPA UK, located in Keighley.

As Tite-Range noted, Yorkshire is where the Tite-Range – including Screw-Tite, Tongue-Tite and Deck-Tite – were conceived and designed. Fellow Torque-Expo Coventry 2018 exhibitors Harrison & Clough and Gedore Torque are also Yorkshire-based.

The county is home to Tata Steel and, in March, saw Siemens UK reveal it was to invest £200 million in a state-of-the-art train factory in Goole, East Yorkshire.

Exporting businesses across the region are backed by the government’s Local Enterprise Partnerships with three rounds of Growth Deal funding totalling £145.9 million going towards projects which kick-start growth and promote job creation.
