Three years in the making, Wiha has launched its first ‘e-screwdriver’ which is believed to be a new product category.

The speedE is VDE-tested (1,000V approved), featuring interchangeable blades and capable of turning 800 screws with one charge. Pitched as an ideal tool for panel builders and any other repetitive electric-based screwdriving task, the speedE has a robust metal motor and three wheel clutch.

Spotted at the Cologne International Hardware Fair, the speedE is lightweight and features vibration welded joints.

Also featuring 0.4Nm automatic material protection, the German-made speedE is patented and is fully compatible with Wiha’s slimBit system.

Using the versatile speedE, users can also finish tightening by hand.

According to our source at the Cologne show, it will be available in the UK very soon.
