Business publication FDI – part of the Financial Times – has produced a list of the global states and cities that are manufacturing the most product.
Jiangsu on China’s eastern coast, has been rated the top state for manufacturing in the Asia-Pacific region, followed by Java in Indonesia. Raylong in Thailand is the top rated city in that region, with over 37,500 manufacturing jobs.
When it comes to Western Europe and the UK, it will be a surprise for few that the Midlands region fared well in the FDI list – however the region has proved so strong that it has ranked highest in Western Europe. The West Midlands has almost 17,000 manufacturing jobs, 3,289 of which are in Wolverhampton – placing them top of the state and city rankings, respectively, for job creation. Scotland was placed third for job creation and project numbers.
Other highlights from the list included Texas topping the state chart for manufacturing job creation in North America (more than 20,000 jobs). Mexican cities held all the top 10 spots for job creation in Latin America and the Caribbean. Read more from the FTI list here.
Industry jobs are now being advertised in Torque’s brand new jobs site, which you can find here.
