The Benelux power tools market has seen growth this year, with around 10 million units expected to be shipping when the year is out, up from 9.8 million in 2015, according to a report from Future Market Insights.

In 2015, the Benelux power tools market was valued at US$826.4 million and is expected to hit US$859.1 million this year.

Industrialpower tools are the star of the show, outselling household power tools and accounting for 57.6% revenue share of the market (2016).

Construction & automotive

Power tool demand is being fuelled by the construction sector, which has been largely steady since the 2008 crash. Rising adoption in the automotive market and a growing DIY trend has boosted the market further, as has increasing penetration of Chinese products – expected to play a more signficant role in driving sales in future.

Electric power tools outweigh pneumatic or air tool popularity, with 5.8 million units expected in 2016 (5.7m 2015).

Locally, the Netherlands is Benelux’s largest power tools market, seeing 5.5 million units in 2016 and a value of US$470.0 million, up a significant 3.7% on 2015. Belgium power tools sales were worth US$359.2 million in 2016.

Key global players in Benelux include Bosch, Atlas Copco and Makita, while Germany’s Metabowerke and Einhell are also significant players.

Power tools volume is expected to increase 2.2% from 2016 to 2026 and value at 3.9% in the same period.
