Makita has added a slim, lightweight and powerful multi-tool to its popular 10.8v range of cordless tools.

Makita said that the performance of these advanced 10.8v tools is ideal for many ‘lighter’ operations – like kitchen and bathroom installations – where the power of the 18v Lithium-Ion tools is not essential.

The new Makita TM30D CXT Multi Tool uses the OIS adaptor with 12 posts to take the many alternative blades and abrasives available in the Makita accessory range. Blades can be fitted at 12 alternative angles at every 30° from 0° to 360°. The oscillation angle is 3.2° per stroke and the new TM30D will run between 6,000 and 20,000 oscillations per minute.

Every new Makita tool is slimmer and more compact than the previous model and this new 10.8v multi-tool has the slimmest, ergonomically designed barrel grip body for comfort and control. Advanced electrical controls include variable speed control dial, which intelligently sets a constant speed to suit the task; slide control positioned conveniently on the top of the machine body; soft start system to maintain operator control, as well as the safety of the anti-restart function where, if a low battery stops the machine in operation once the battery is charged, the machine will not run until the operator returns the switch to the off position before restarting, thus maintain full control of the tool.

Blades are fixed by positive screw clamp with the hex wrench stored on the machine body. The TM30D has an LED job light and weighs just 1.2kg with the dust extraction connector fitted. The new Makita TM30D is the first 10.8v Multi Tool in the range and joins two 18v machines, one with tool-less blade fixing, and also two mains powered machines.

The TM30D and the Makita HP331D 10.8v combi drill are included in a useful new two-piece kit that is delivered in a robust MAKPAC case complete with two batteries, a DC10WC charger and a 5-piece accessory set.
