Last week general builders merchant chain Jewson was hit by a significant cyber attack.

The attack, which took place on 27 June 2017, forced the major market player offline and affected emails.

IT systems around the world were affected by the malicious software, which is thought to have first hit Ukraine at the start of last week.

UPDATED: The Jewson is back online as of 5 July 2017.

Despite the website downtime, the merchant chain stressed that all of its branches and sales offices remained open for business.

A statement from the business read: “Our branches are now getting back online following the recent cyber attack, although we are experiencing some issues with emails. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

“All our branches and sales offices are open for business and we will continue to provide regular updates on social media.”

Jewsons has over 600 branches across the UK and is part of the SGBD (Saint-Gobain Building Distribution Group), one of Europe’s largest distributors of building materials.
