Warrington-based engineering solutions provider Boulting Group has promoted former Project Director Ian Humphries to the position of Managing Director, following a period of continuous growth at the company and its expansion into new sectors.

Humphries, who has over 25 years’ engineering experience, has previously managed materials handling and chemical engineering projects in China, New Delhi, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Humphries began his career as a mechanical engineer, working for Cheadle-based Simon Group, where he managed large-scale international engineering projects. After five years working overseas, Humphries made his move into chemical engineering, leading the establishment of grassroots refineries in New Delhi.

In 2010, Humphries joined Boulting Group as a Project Director for one of the group’s major accounts. After successfully managing a series of large projects, Humphries was approached in 2016 and asked to take on the role of MD.

Ian Humphries said: “In the seven years that I have worked for Boulting Group, I have always been extremely proud of the group’s capabilities and dedication to offering the service of the highest standard to its clients. As managing director, I hope to work alongside the rest of the board to create an ongoing management strategy that reflects Boulting Group’s strengths and the values of its workforce.

“Boulting Group has an unrivalled commitment to continuous professional development (CPD) and apprenticeships — something that we are actively promoting to help close the industry-wide skills shortage. We have a team of extremely talented young professionals and tradesmen, which we hope to grow further over the coming years.”
