GESIPA
Gesipa’s new blind rivet, Polybulb, is ideal for sensitive materials. Thanks to the pattern of its closing head – with special geometric features – it can join particularly sensitive, porous and pressure-sensitive materials.
Riveting’s advantages for the automotive industry include ease of use with a low level of training requirement by the worker, durability and low-cost. In addition to these advantages and amongst many others, blind riveting offers another two decisive benefits. First, the worker only needs access to one side of the workpiece which makes the setting process a lot easier and results in sustainable cost savings. Second, the application and the material to be joined are not influenced by thermal exposure. Especially when fastening modern materials this can sometimes not be done without destroying them.
In the automotive industry the new PolyBulb has proven very successful in particular, says Gesipa. In this sector it is used to reliably join sensitive composite materials when fixing loudspeakers. Due to a large closing head diameter the pressure on sensitive materials is distributed in an optimum and gentle way. In many cases this means that C-parts such as washers are no longer required.
In addition, with the closing head protruding the drilling hole, it protects the rivet from being pulled out of the application. The locked mandrel keeps the joint safely together even when exposed to high loads and completely avoids any disturbing rattling noise.
The new PolyBulb features a perfect hole filling capability, says Gesipa, for optimum filling of the drilling hole and providing a safe fit. The closing head is aesthetically pleasing, with a simple finish and no disturbing burrs. The Polybulb has a wide grip range, saving costs by reducing the number of different parts required and simultaneously minimising the risk of mixing them up at the workplace. It has a wide scope in application too, suited for challenging and sensitive materials.
VVG
VVG has something up its sleeve that provides what it calls ‘Next Level Riveting’.
Small, light and smart are three keywords for a new developed battery riveter from Germany’s VVG-fasteners, which we are promised will set standards in many areas and will be presented at Fastener Fair in Stuttgart.
VVG claims its ‘lightest battery riveter with process monitoring’ features an extremely low weight and very compact dimensions as well as extensive integrated digital monitoring and documentation possibilities.
The tool can be operated via a display, network integration or the corresponding app. It has a low-wear, brushless motor, a manual or automatic return mode and can be completely serviced without the use of tools.
The attractive package is complemented by the powerful RivdomPLUS LI-Ion batteries with a charging time of less than 30 minutes and many additional interesting options for state-of-the art blind rivet processing.
